We're looking for a Part-Time Technology Support Specialist. You'll be solely responsible for improving company performance by managing our technology stack.

About Us

We started in 2017, and we're growing like crazy.

We expect to hire at least four salespeople, three admins, and three marketers in 2025.

Growing FAST - We sold 2663 lessons in 2024, and we're on pace to sell 3328 lessons in 2025.

A small team of 1 American and 10 Filipinos.

We sell manual transmission driving lessons in the United States. Yes, really.

100% inbound leads from Organic Search (SEO). We don't do cold calling.

No competition - we have no competitors in 90% of the markets we serve. Because of this, our sale is easy to make.

Compensation and Benefits

We’re looking for someone who can jump in right away to help with technical projects as they come up. This is a part-time, on-demand position — meaning there may be times when we need you immediately, and other times (like the next three weeks) when there won’t be any work at all.

Hourly role – $10/hour, paid for the hours you work

No benefits

Flexible work – we bring you a problem, you help us solve it

This is a great fit if you’re looking for side work, enjoy tackling problems on a project basis, and want flexibility in when and how you work.

Who This Job Is Good For

This is a great opportunity for anyone with a background in any of the following areas: System Administration, Sys Admin, Software Development, AWS, Database Management, Technical Support, Solution Engineer, Hardware Engineer, Configuration Specialists, SAAS Configuration, Software Integration Specialist.

Duties and Responsibilities

Troubleshooting - Troubleshoot technical issues by talking with our vendors. Fix technical issues that periodically arise.

Integration - Integrate various software systems so that they talk to each other. Install and maintain tags from various advertising platforms.

Sourcing - Lead the identification, sourcing, and evaluation of potential new solutions.

Set up and Installation - Lead the setup and integration of the systems with our existing systems. Read and integrate support documentation from various vendors.

Examples of Recent Problems That We've Had That You'd Focus on Solving

Map Search - Troubleshooting why the map on our website is showing incorrect location information

Google Analytics - Prepare for GA4 depreciation by changing tagging and website integrations.

Phone System - Configuring a system to route calls to the appropriate salesperson. Creating filters for salespeople to identify missed callers in their territory. Changing the soft phone system so that customers who have already purchased are routed to the customer service department instead of the sales department.

Indeed.com - Troubleshooting why advertisements were not posting and implementing changes to our process based on findings

Integrating Hubspot and our Email system so that when we send emails to customers, their record gets updated in Hubspot.

Adding conversion tracking to various buttons and pages on our website and making sure that data is sent to Google Analytics.

Troubleshooting why our scheduled callback system is showing no times available, even though the salesperson has lots of time available on their calendar.

There could be many other kinds of problems, of course, so this isn't meant to be comprehensive. Essentially, when something isn't working or when we want to utilize a feature, we assign you the task and expect you to figure it out. You'd probably need to read technical materials and talk with tech support provided by the software systems that we use. Nobody in our current team is technical, so there's nobody internally who you could go to for help. You basically need to just be good at figuring things out and troubleshooting until you make it work. We'd be available to help answer any questions you have and explain the various user stories, but beyond that, we're basically cavemen when it comes to technology.

Qualifications

At least three years of work experience, preferably in managing business software such as CRM, VOIP phone systems, Sales Enablement, drag-and-drop website platforms, advertising tags.

You must have your own computer, reliable high-speed internet, and good quality headset and microphone.

English Grammar and Language: You must speak passable English. We’re not looking for perfect English.

Strong Problem-Solving skills

What's Hard About This Job

Working Remotely - We're a remote-first company, and we never want to have an office. This is great if you like working by yourself in the quiet, but it can be terribly painful if you need the energy of coworkers nearby.

Our Cultural Values - We're an American company with an incredibly unusual culture. Even by American standards, our 7 cultural values are highly unusual. Our culture is challenging for people accustomed to corporate culture and especially difficult for people who grew up in Confucian cultures. It's a great culture for people who speak directly and have a great deal of self-confidence and ownership. If you identify as a misfit, you'll do well.

Multiple Software Systems - You're going to need to learn how to use 12 different software systems. This is great if you want to get exposed to and experienced with lots of technology, but it can be tough if you have a hard time learning technology. Secret Message - When you apply, you'll see a box that asks if you want to add anything else. Type in PINKELEPHANT in all capital letters exactly as we've shown it here.

Leadership Expectations - Other than the company founder (who doesn't have a tech background), you will be our first technology specialist. The combination of being solely responsible for all aspects of the technology and our lack of technical prowess could be overwhelming to someone who wants to be told what to do and how to do it. You need to have a leadership mindset, or this won't work.
